OUR HEART & SOLES
.
.
Picture this: It's the year 2022 and we did the inconceivable. We threw a party.
.
Much to our pleasure, a lot of incredible people showed up.
.
Who would have dreamt that HAVING A PARTY would be a major feat when we opened our doors 15 years ago? And who would have thought that an in-store in-person party could feel so healing, nostalgic, and necessary?
.
The evening of June 22nd felt like the "before times", the arguably simpler times, and the vibes all night long had the distant familiarity and joyful nostalgia of our IRL parties before a pandemic turned our world upside down, and had us connecting 6 feet apart through windows and computer screens.
.
We've been craving connection. So to celebrate BUS STOP's 15th Anniversary, we threw a "BUS STOP X LOUD Party" and invited our favorite people to come to the shop.
.
We went analogue and captured it all on our Polaroid camera, taking portraits of each and every guest.
.
Name a more fitting way to document a party that felt so deeply like days-gone-by?
.
DJ Selekta XXX had us grooving until the after hours to an unstoppable soundtrack and we kept our energy up and going with the help of sugary treats by Sprinkled Sweetness and 25 popped bottles of bubbly.
.
Reconnecting with friends, family, collaborators, small biz owners, and loyal customers was indescribably invigorating to our souls (& soles)...
.
We want to also acknowledge that Covid, and the anxiety it creates isn't over as new strains arise. Our immune-compromised friends weren't at the party. The eeriness of their absence didn't go unnoticed and they were wholeheartedly missed at this celebration. As we continue to maneuver these strange times, we want to remain vigilant, informed, safe, and sensitive to this when interacting with our customers and guests in our store.
.
But we would be remiss to not hold space and the utmost gratitude for what June 22nd gave us.
.
We are grateful for the incredible sheer fact that for one very beautiful night, it felt like a different time, not just like old times, but a new refreshing time. It was an unforgettable experience in a space we've loved for 15 years that was filled with love and a collective of talented people, a mix of our past selves and (more importantly) our newfound, resilient identities.
.
Over the past 2 years, we've come together to do our part. We've all been strong, brave, mindful and intentional. It felt damn good to move our feet and dance our hearts out together. This was the absolute best way to really celebrate our 15th year in the shoe business.
