Come SHOP this Friday 4-7pm at BUS STOP shoe boutique! We love featuring local designers & this one is really special because Modern Misfits womenswear designer Aubrey Loftus is *also* a BUS STOP Girl!

Let's set the scene: Aubrey Loftus makes her unique & funky women's Y2K style handbags and clothing by hand in her South Philly Design studio. On any given day, you can find Aubrey working with faux fur, vintage deadstock fabrics and patterns, and feathers to create her signature one-of-a-kind womenswear pieces in her quirky, sunny, & petite Italian Market Philly workspace. Her studiomate, fashion intern, and resident assistant is her cat Lou. Her dog Grip isn't much of an intern but more of a loving disruptor who only comes to pay her & Lou a visit to spice things up, play fight Lou, and get a belly rub from Modern Misfits Head Designer & Creative Director. Aubrey's partner Steve co-owns the coffee down the block called Gleaners, so he keeps Aubrey caffeinated & smiling!

Modern Misfits design aesthetic is playful, vintage-inspired womenswear & accessories for the city chick. Aubrey creates pieces by hand, often using vintage patterns and fabrics she scours and gathers from her grandmothers. She comes from a lineage of women who make things and sew by hand and this is felt and seen in her bespoke, custom, one-of-a-kind, limited edition, exclusive fashion pieces for women! Her new, signature handbag line called "LOVED ONE by Modern Misfits" includes baguette bags ala the 90s & early aughts with reversible exteriors and mix and match removable/interchangeable feather boa handles.

We love her commitment to her brand and personal unique style. Her womenswear designs always bring a smile to our faces and remind us of memories of our fashion moments gone by. There is a freshness, edginess, and nostalgia to Modern Misfits designs. We love how this female collective of entrepreneurs makes everything by hand in Philly. Modern Misfits also hosts events and Pop-Ups around the city. They have a gritty, girly, punk rock vibe that's loaded with "IT-GIRL" sweetness and forward-thinking design approaches.
